Bayhorse was discovered in 1877 and has been in operation on and off until the 1980s. Bayhorse is private property and you will need to obtain special permission to visit the site.

There is a mine elevator and shaft inside this old brick structure that appears to have been either the mine offices, or at one time, a store.

You KNOW the place is old when the graffiti is over 100 years old!

The upper cemetery is located on a steep hillside. Unfortunately none of the graves were marked to note who was buried there.
