JASPER
Jasper is one of the smaller towns that surround Spruce Mountain. The town reached its peak in 1880 with about 175 people. A furnace and smelter were located here for working the ore from area mines. The smelter shut down in the late 1890s and the town was soon abandoned. The mines saw a revival in the 1920s and remaing structures here are from that era.
Furnace and smelter in good condition.
