JORDAN TOWNSITE AND CEMETARY
Jordan is the site of a once tiny settlement and power plant that supplied the local mines at Lundy and Monoville. One night in 1911 there was a HUGE avalanche that killed nine people. You can see in the above photo how steep the hillside is.
One woman, was saved from death by the cement wall that fell down on her and kept the larger debris from killing her but at the same time trapped her underneath. She was rescued and taken to a local hospital by horsedrawn sled.
Can you spot the error in the above right photo? The last name is spelled different on the headstones and the obit date is different, yet it appears both headstones are for the same man.
On the critter front: well, I was injured the day we visited Jordan and I wasnt much in the mood to chase anything. I let Cat and her buddies Chris, Brian and Patsy do the exploring this time.
